PHOTO 11/13: Evolution of the Camera

DESCRIPTION

We will discuss the following ideas:

TAKE NOTES during class discussions. You will submit notes for credit every few weeks. If you are absent, you must watch the Zoom video to get the notes.

If you were absent to any of the meetings this week, go to Google Classroom, where the recorded meetings have been posted under Classwork>Recorded Zoom Meetings.

CLASS ACTIVITIES

  2. Watch the following videos that discuss the early history of cameras





HOMEWORK

  1. Write a half page reflection answering the following question in at least two well developed paragraphs.  Submit your answer in Google Classroom.  Be prepared to share your answer.  Due 11/16

  2. Now that you have learned about the history of photography, how do you think that photography changed the world?  How might the world be different without the discovery of photography and the evolution of the camera?

  3. Pick up your photography kit in room 102 Tues/Thurs from 2 – 3:30. You will need this kit for this unit on the history of photography.  

  4. Gather the following materials at home and photograph them.  Turn them into Google Classroom under “Early Photography Materials” :

  5. Rubbing Alcohol OR clear hand sanitizer (at least 8oz)

  6. Hydrogen peroxide (optional)

  7. Shoebox

  8. A piece of glass (take one out of a frame)

  9. Cardboard (cereal box or any box will do)

  10. Tape

  11. Scissors or a blade

  12. A sharp pencil or something else that is pointy and sharp

  13. A metal soda can OR heavy duty aluminum foil

  14. Hot glue and glue gun (not necessary but helpful)

  15. Complete the Camera Obscura web quest in Google Classroom.  Past Due

This video is part of your homework. Watch it and answer the questions in the Camera Obscura Quest slideshow (in Google Classroom)

  1. Photo Kit 1 will be available for pick up Tues/Wed/Thurs in room 102 from 2 – 3:30 this week

  2. I will be taking a green screen photograph of you when you come to pick up your kit. Please come prepared.
