PHOTO 12/10 – 12-18: Cyanotype Project

DESCRIPTION

We will discuss the following ideas:

  1. The Cyanotype Project
  2. How to create a negative in Photopea/Photoshop
  3. How to print with ready-made Cyanotype paper

TAKE NOTES during class discussions. You will submit notes for credit every few weeks. If you are absent, you must watch the Zoom video to get the notes.

If you were absent to any of the meetings this week, go to Google Classroom, where the recorded meetings have been posted under Classwork>Recorded Zoom Meetings.

CLASS ACTIVITIES

  • Go over The Cyanotype Project
    • Your photo kit contains FOUR pieces of ready-made cyanotype paper and FOUR test strips.
  • Live demonstration of printing on cyanotype paper and developing the print, see video below.

Creating a Negative in Photopea

HOMEWORK

  • Create TWO negatives from your own macro photographs and turn them into Google Classroom for use in your cyanotypes. Pick up your printed negatives from CHHS room 102 on Friday, December 11th
  • Go over the cyanotype project
    • Your photo kit contains FOUR pieces of ready-made cyanotype paper and FOUR test strips.
  • Live demonstration of printing on cyanotype paper and developing the print, see video below.
  • Extra Credit: Toning your Cyanotypes
  • webpage creation Due December 19th
    • Using your negatives, create 2 cyanotype prints
    • Create TWO more cyanotype prints using interesting materials from home
    • Document the whole process by taking photographs and post these images to your website
    • On your website, create a page called “Early Photography” and place both your anthotype and cyanotype project images there
    • On that page, you must include pictures of your materials, process, and results.
    • Include a minimum of 10 process photographs
    • Write at least two paragraphs explaining your cyanotype experience along the way. Each photograph must have a short explanation.
  • Pick up your photography kit at the front office from 8 am to 3pm M-F
