I want to study at MIT at future so about the rules of cheating. I found few stuff such as kick out from collage , the university have Code of conduct ,if you have plagiarism, some students will have to stop going to school, get a F on the report, even some students will be dismissed. On MIT’s website, I also found sometimes copying can be good for us, but we have to tell which is from internet, So I know that if I want go to MIT I have to study hard and never cheat, if I’m going to take some stuff form others I have to named it, tell reader that is other’s opinion.
The Plagiarism in the university
The plagiarism means that someone copies other’s work for your own. It may with or without consent, but it’s without full acknowledgment. All published and unpublished material, whether in manuscript, printed or electronic form, is considered plagiarism. Sometimes, the professor believes that the plagiarism of students is because of the uneducated of plagiarism. Sometimes they don’t even understand they are doing the plagiarism. So many professors like to have a speech with their students at the beginning of the semester. The UC Berkeley has a policy that“There be a significant departure from accepted practices of the relevant research community; The misconduct be committed intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly; The allegation be proven by a preponderance of the evidence. ” The professor will give you an F in this grade. Plagiarism standards are not relaxed in an astronomy or other science courses as compared to, for instance, history or literature courses; and lecture materials and course textbooks may usually be referenced, though not quoted, in assignments for that course without citation.
Plagiarism Policies in American University
Plagiarism is a very bad act, and this bad behavior takes place in many countries. In China, this behavior often happens. When I was a child, my mother and teacher taught me that plagiarism is a bad behavior. And now, many American universities also don’t allowed this behavior. And if you do Academic dishonesty, you will also be punished. For example, this is one of the rule from Washington State University. If your thesis does not indicate where it comes from, you will lose your status. And in Duke university, it requires new students to complete tutoring courses about no plagiarism on the network before they sign up. Or you can not enter the university. Most schools have Student Judicial Affairs, and they all pay attention to this act. Not only school but many professors hate academic dishonesty, and copyright infringement. And many people think that if you copy other people’s results, you’re certainly not thinking. I like UCLA very much. This is a good school. But the school also hated plagiarism. I have seen a story once. UCLA refuses 52 excellent MBA applicants. These men copied other people’s application paper. That’s too bad. So, this is a very bad behavior. This is a very serious thing. We must not do plagiaristic things.
Something about Plagiarism
When we talk about Plagiarism, what do we talk about? In my opinion, exchanging ideas about class projects in the free time is totally OK, but not in the test, if it’s in the test it called cheat, according to the policy in UCLA, it says that Plagiarism is bad because it lost the process of thinking, and that’s the most important thing in our life. In another word you can get a high score on Algebra 2 test by cheat it, I would say that’s OK, it’s your choice, but there will be a lots of big and small tests in our life, and some of them are unable to copy, then how would you handle that? I have known a lots of guys from news who cheat on the SAT test successfully and got repatriate because of their poor grade on collage GPA, I don’t want let that happen to me, both are we, and we don’t like to see peoples who copy others work for his own; it’s not your own work, copying literally learned nothing, nothing but how to use CTRL +C and CTRL+V, that’s not good for each one of us, so be a good boy and make our Pegasus teachers proud!
The plagiarism policies in Stanford University
Today I will talk about the plagiarism policies in Stanford University. Stanford has made honor codes to prevent plagiarism. But if you still copy others’ work or assignment, you will receive one of these punishments: disciplinary warning, reprimand, restitution, disciplinary probation, suspension and dismissal. If you plagiarize for the first time, you will be punished in one of the first four ways. But if you do that for more than one time, you will be punished in one of the last two ways.
