    3. Dillfrog– A rhyming dictionary with lots of choices
    4. Rhymer – Another rhyming dictionary that includes examples and definitions for each kind of rhyme

  • Vocabulary: Collect FIFTEEN words from your reading each week of this unit.  Do one of the exercises in the Binder_Vocabulary section.  Do not do exercise 1.
  • Write one paragraph responding to “The Tide Rises, The Tide Falls” – Discuss the meaning of the poem and any literary devices used, including their effect.  How do you relate to this poem personally?

  • Write a poem about beauty or about our greatest fears using literary devices.  If you feel like challenging yourself, try writing it in iambic pentameter!

  • Write one paragraph about Lowell’s The First Snowfall.  What does the narrator learn from the snow?  What are some possible themes in this poem?

  2. Fill out Poetic Device Hunt

HOMEWORK:  Do your homework by hand.  Do not type your homework. 

  • Choose one of the sonnets we read in class today and react to it.  What are some of the literary devices that Shakespeare used?  How do these devices help in creating a timeless poem?  In your own words, explain what this poem is saying.
