12/10/19: Final Project

December 10, 2019 · kscarff · Posted in Art, Art Agenda, Projects · Tags: adobe, collage, compositing, digital, photoshop, video ·

You will create a Photoshop collage all about you and your interests.  Use your imagination.  The design is all about you, but be creative—you do not have to be in the middle of the design.  The design could feature your shadow, hands, feet, etc.

Look at the examples below for inspiration.  Watch the Tutorials for technique.  Go to the internet to search for more techniques.  Have fun!

Due date is: FRIDAY, DECEMBER 20th.  Turn in your documents on Google Drive.  Use the link found in Google Classroom.

Design Elements:

  1. Use a THEME that brings all your ideas together to create a sense of UNITY.
  2. The style of your design is SURREAL—not realistic at all, completely imaginary. Combine elements that are unexpected.
  3. Your artwork should have a FOREGROUND, MIDDLEGROUND, and BACKGROUND.  Change the order of your layers to achieve this.
  4. Use a COLOR SCHEME and stick to it: Cool, Warm, Monochromatic, Analogous, Complementary, etc.  Pay attention to your color choices, as they have meaning.
  5. Don’t forget to use your ELEMENTS OF ART: Shape, line, form, texture, color, value, space.

Technical Requirements

  1. Document name: Pd_Last_First_Final. Save your document as a PSD file.  Turn in your document as a JPG.
  2. Document size: W=14 in, H=11 in, 300 ppi
  3. 15-20 layers. Organize your layers into FOLDERS.
  4. Use at least ONE green screen image.
  5. Use at least FOUR real images from your life
  6. Name all your LAYERS.
  7. Background layer should be at least 4 layers. Use a FOLDER.
  8. Use at least one GRADIENT
  9. Use layer BLENDING STYLES to blend layers (under NORMAL in the layers palette).
  10. Add TEXT to your design, even if it’s just your name on the bottom right.

12/05/19-12/06/19: Collage 2 and Website

December 5, 2019 · kscarff · Posted in Art, Art Agenda, Projects · Tags: adobe, collage, compositing, digital, photoshop, video ·
For Thursday and Friday of this week, you will create a NEW Photoshop collage (called a COMPOSITE) and post it to your website.

You can follow the exact tutorial that is posted below with all the jellyfish, or you can create your own.

The jellyfish tutorial has files that you can download and follow along with.  It has more information than you need towards the end, but you should be able to do most of what he does.  Skip the stuff that confuses you.

1. File name: pd_Last_First_practice2. Save it as a Photoshop file.
2. Include a gradient wtih 3 colors.  Skip this if you are doing the Jellyfish.
3. Use layer blending modes (hidden under the word NORMAL in your layers palette).
4. Replace a sky in an image with something else– for example, turn the sky into outerspace or water.
5. Include Text with FX.  The Jellyfish tutorial doesn’t, but you can add text anywhere.
6. Include a total of at least SIX layers.
7. Save the file to your PICTURES folder as a PSD then as a JPG when finished.
8.Add the finished JPG file to the SAME page as your last Photoshop collage.

If you need help, watch the tutorials here or find tutorials on YouTube. There is lots of help out there. Have fun!

12/04/19: Collage 1 and Website

1. First, make sure you have turned in your first collage as a JPG file. Name the file Pd_Last_First_practice1. Find your period and place the file there. If you need help, please watch the tutorial videos available below.

Your collage should meet the following requirements:
1. Includes a green screen image from class with a background removed
2. Includes 3-4 layers
3. File name is Pd_Last_First_practice1
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B357uyd4mK8DWGtUeHpSRk9Fcm8?usp=sharing

2. Go to your Google Website that you created a while ago. If you haven’t created a website, do it now. Here’s the instructions: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YlOjcebKiV8eLsb2cKypXggdOF_vK2kGNjWmG9rQhAY/edit?usp=sharing

Add a page to your website called Photoshop. On that page, post the following information:
a. Post one of your green screen images as it came from the camera. You should resize it to the following before posting: Resolution 72, Height=1000 PIXELS (not inches). Save it under the following name so that you know it’s your low resolution file: green screen_web
b. Post your first collage, the one that you turned in.
c. Write ONE paragraph explaining what you’ve learned so far in Photoshop and what else you’d like to learn
